However, especially in endemic regions, parasites should not be overlooked. Ruptured hydatid cyst is one of the most important parasitic causes of common bile duct obstruction and should be considered in every case of common bile duct obstruction with a history of hydatid infection. We present herein an unusual case of hepatic hydatid cyst recurrence after 13 years with concomitant rupture into the biliary system causing common bile duct obstruction.
