زمینه: امروزه ترکیبات آلی فرار به عنوان یکی از شناخته‌ترین آلاینده‌های هوا به ویژه در محیط‌های داخلی محسوب می‌گردند. هدف اصلی این مطالعه سنجش میزان TVOC در هوای محیط داخل و آزاد اطراف مهدکودک‌های مورد نظر و بررسی ارتباط غلظت‌های داخل و خارج با یکدیگر بود.

مواد و روش‌ها: سنجش در 4 مهدکودکِ شهر اهواز و در پنج روز متوالی بین ساعات 9 تا 10 صبح صورت گرفت.به طور کلی 40 نمونه جمع‌آوری شد. در این مطالعه از دستگاه پرتال PhoCheck PID Detector برای نمونه‌گیری فعال استفاده شد. نتایج توسط نرم‌افزار SPSS ویرایش 16 و آمار توصیفی گزارش گردید.

یافته‌ها: میانگین TVOC سنجش شده در هوای داخل و خارج به ترتیب، 50 میکروگرم بر مترمکعب (انحراف معیار 74) و 495 میکروگرم بر مترمکعب (انحراف معیار 310) بود. با توجه به آنالیز صورت گرفته توسط paired-samples T-Test  ارتباط معناداری بین مقادیر TVOC هوای آزاد و مقادیر TVOC محیط داخلی مشاهده نشد.

نتیجه‌گیری: مقادیر سنجش شده در هوای محیط داخل این مهدکودک‌ها، به عوامل داخلی بستگی داشته و تهویه مناسب به میزان کم مؤثر بوده است.
