زمینه: SIRT1 و FGF21 به عنوان تنظیم‌گرهای متابولیسم گلوکز شناخته شده و عوارض ناشی از بیماری دیابت را تعدیل می‌کنند. عصاره جلبک سارگاسوم اولیگوسیستوم دارای خواص درمانی است. هدف از این مطالعه ارزیابی اثرات عصاره هیدروالکلی جلبک سارگاسوم اولیگوسیستوم بر میزان سرمی فاکتورهای SIRT1 و FGF21 در رت دیابتی می‌باشد.
مواد و روش‌ها: در مطالعه تجربی حاضر، 48 سر رت نر از نژاد ویستار به‌صورت تصادفی در شش گروه هشت تایی شامل کنترل بکر، کنترل دیابتی، دیابتی تیمار با عصاره (غلظت 150 میلی‌گرم بر کیلوگرم وزن بدن)، دیابتی تیمار با عصاره (غلظت 300 میلی‌گرم بر کیلوگرم وزن بدن)، دیابتی تیمار با عصاره (غلظت 450 میلی‌گرم بر کیلوگرم وزن بدن)، دیابتی تیمار با متفورمین (غلظت 100 میلی‌گرم بر کیلوگرم وزن بدن) قرار گرفتند. پس از 30 روز درمان میزان سرمی فاکتورهای SIRT1 و FGF21 رت‌ها اندازه‌گیری گردید .داده‌ها با استفاده از نرم‌افزار SPSS ویرایش 22 تجزیه و تحلیل گردید.
یافته‌ها: عصاره سارگاسوم در غلظت 450 میلی‌گرم بر کیلوگرم وزن بدن رت، به‌طور قابل توجهی سبب کاهش میزان سرمی SIRT1 گردید. تغییراتی در میزان سرمی FGF21 و انسولین در تمامی غلظت‌های عصاره مشاهده نگردید. علاوه بر این گلوکز سرم و مقاومت انسولینی در غلظت 300 میلی‌گرم بر کیلوگرم وزن بدن عصاره کاهش یافت.
نتیجه‌گیری: نتایج این مطالعه بیان می‌کند که عصاره جلبک تغییرات قابل توجهی در سطح SIRT1 و FGF21 به منظور تنظیم متابولیسم گلوکز ندارد.
