زمینه: ژن سرکوبگر تومور TP53، در ترمیم آسیب‌های وارد شده به DNA و همچنین در آپوپتوزیس سلولی نقش دارد. این پژوهش به بررسی ارتباط بین پلی‌مورفیسم کدون 72 ژن TP53 در انواع نمونه‌های بافتی غیرطبیعی سرویکس در مقایسه با نمونه‌های زنان سالم به‌عنوان گروه کنترل و همچنین فراوانی ویروس‌های هرپس سیمپلکس انسانی در این نمونه‌ها پرداخته است.
مواد و روش‌ها: در این مطالعه موردی- شاهدی، تعداد 110 نمونه بیوپسی سرویکس با پاتولوژی غیرنرمال از آرشیو بخش پاتولوژی بیمارستان شهدای خلیج‌فارس بوشهر مورد بررسی قرار گرفت و تعداد 164 نفر از زنان سالم به‌عنوان گروه کنترل انتخاب شدند. جهت شناسایی ویروس هرپس سیمپلکس از آزمون PCR یک مرحله‌ای و به‌منظور آنالیز پلی‌مورفیسم کدون 72 ژن TP53 از روش
Allele-specific PCR استفاده گردید. داده‌ها با نرم‌افزار SPSS ویرایش 17 مورد تجزیه و تحلیل قرار گرفتند.
یافته‌ها: توزیع ژنوتیپ‌های TP53 در دو گروه بیمار و کنترل، از نظر آماری معنی‌دار نبود. در بررسی فراوانی دو آلل آرژنین و پرولین مشخص گردید که افراد فاقد آلل پرولین در گروه بیمار (19 درصد) نسبت به گروه کنترل (1/30 درصد) کمتر می‌باشند که این تفاوت از نظر آماری معنی‌دار است (04/0=p) (36/3-03/1: CI 95 درصد، 86/1=OR). همچنین ارتباط آماری معنی‌داری میان نتایج مختلف پاتولوژی، سن، قومیت و محل سکونت با ژنوتیب TP53 مشاهده نگردید. در این بررسی، ویروسHSV در نمونه‌های مورد مطالعه شناسایی نشد.
نتیجه‌گیری: به دلیل مشاهده اختلاف معنی‌دار آلل پرولین بین دو گروه بیمار و کنترل به نظر می‌رسد که این آلل با نتایج پاتولوژی غیرنرمال دهانه رحم در استان بوشهر ارتباط داشته باشد.
